Could an LLM be your research assistant?

How useful are LLMs in driving the acceleration of scientific experimentation and discovery in the physical sciences? This talk will begin by briefly summarizing where LLMs are already broadly successful in scientific applications. This will be followed with a discussion of challenges at the frontier of LLM use-cases, and finally the talk will provide speculation on how audience members can most practically and immediately leverage LLMs in their own research.
