Active learning activities with PhET simulations

ORAL

Abstract

Active learning has become an essential part of introductory-level physics classes. Physics education research found that more than 80% of students in physics courses acquire a sound conceptual grasp of basic physics principles inside an active learning environment in comparison to traditional classrooms. In this project, interactive PhET simulations were introduced for the active learning environment. The canvas embedded quizzes with PhET simulations were designed to align with the in-class questions in the introductory level physics I class. The PhET activities and the overview of the active learning environment of the class will be presented.
