Free Falling Atom
ORAL
Abstract
In the mid 1960's, Gryzinski published in the Physical Review Letters the idea that atomic electrons are falling into the nucleus. They are diverted by magnetic forces from entering it. We will summarize his development of this purely classical model and present a time line showing the rise and fall in the interest in this picture of the atom.
