TSAAPT Get the Facts Out (Teaching, the Best Kept Secret)
ORAL
Abstract
Did you know there is a National Science Foundation grant aimed at addressing the national teacher shortage? Get the Facts Out (GFO) has a multitude of resources to help get the word out about the teaching profession as The Best Kept Secret. All the resources are research-based and presentations are customizable to your local area. The resources and presentations were designed for use on campuses and tested with faculty and students. Themes of "Here's why you should consider teaching" or "Here are effective messages and resources you can use to recruit students into your teacher prep programs" work well and have a high impact. GFO will even assist with gathering local data on salaries and housing to make the presentations relevant to your audience. Targeted audiences for the GFO presentations include college students, high school teachers, and college faculty.
