Luminosity Measurements for the Electron Ion Collider
ORAL
Abstract
The future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) aims at precise measurements of electron-hadron cross sections and for this an accurate measurement of its luminosity is required. The luminosity detector at the EIC is inspired by the ZEUS experiment at HERA, measuring the bremsstrahlung photons from electron-hadron collisions. Improvements to the older (baseline) ZEUS detector design are investigated in Geant4 simulations. Two different calorimeters, homogenous and sampling calorimeters, are proposed to measure the energy of the pair produced electron and positron. Different characteristics of calorimeters like energy resolution, acceptance are compared.
