Neutron Activation Analysis and Gamma Spectroscopy

ORAL

Abstract

The University of Dallas reports the results of neutron activation and the subsequent gamma analysis that follow the past three years of nuclear physics research held at the institution. The work was completed at the University of Dallas using an in-house 252-Cf as a neutron source and a HPGe detector. Following the optimization was a calibration and analysis of 198-Gold, which will be further discussed and for which the gamma spectrum was obtained from a natural Iridium target, showing successful neutron capture for both 191 and 193 Iridium.
