Modeling Pre-explosion of SN 2019ehk Binary System Using MESA

POSTER

Abstract

After SN 2019ehk was discovered, questions began to arise about the details of the progenitor that resulted in the observed Type Ib supernova. We have created evolutionary model grids for single star and binary system, using MESA, an open-source 1D stellar evolutionary code. We have varied several physical parameters, such as masses, metallicity, and orbital period for the binaries. In this poster, we will present our results, which indicate that this supernova cannot be evolving from single star. Our studies suggest that the best mass of the progenitor is 8 M and the companion 5-8 M.
