Design Of A Spontaneous Parametric Down-Conversion Photon Pair Source In A Heterogeneously Integrated Silicon Photonic/Lithium Niobate Platform

POSTER

Abstract

Spontaneous Parametric Down Conversion (SPDC) is a nonlinear photonic process used to produce entangled pairs of photons when supplied with a pump photon source. In this work, wafer bonding of LiNbO3 onto silicon photonic wafers is utilized to design Type-0 degenerate SPDC entangled photon pair sources. By detecting one of the photons in the pair, we can herald the existence of the second photon. This thus provides a heralded single photon source, a key building block needed to generate Bell states for quantum logic [1].
