Anatolian Archaeology: cutting-edge science in a cutting environment
ORAL
Abstract
This talk will focus my almost 10 years up-and-down experience with beamlines and beamtimes. First met with a synchrotron in Argonne (USA) during my PhD on ancient glass, I have been involved in projects related with archaeology/cultural heritage since then. From examining the oldest glass crucible to identification of early tin-bearing minerals or investigating early pigments, my experience with synchrotron light has been informative, productive, fun but not always very smooth. While this talk will present examples from the archaeology-related research questions and projects conducted recently -particularly- at SESAME (Jordan), I will also review how to bring social scientists and natural scientists into a discussion.
