Could Dicke-Superradiance in the Amide-I Region of Proteins Have a Biological Role?
ORAL
Abstract
The highly aligned amide-I electric dipole moments in alpha-helix rich proteins such as G-Protein Couples Receptors are capable with narrow bandwidth picosecond excitation in the mid-IR of exhibiting Dicke super-radiance. While this is a fascinating physics observation, the question is if such a coherent process could possibly have any biological implications. I will try to briefly explore that topic in a speculative way.
