Correlated states of the Hubbard model on the Lieb lattice
ORAL
Abstract
Recent experiments on ultracold fermions have examined the Hubbard model on the Lieb lattice (arXiv:2404.17555). A ferrimagnetic state is observed at large U at half-filling, consistent with theoretical expectations. Unusual behavior is seen at large U near quarter filling, where many observables resemble the behavior of spinless fermions.
We discuss parton theories realizing $Z_2$ spin liquids which could explain the observations. We also present DMRG results, and compare with observations and theories.
