Detection of novel cardiovascular disease factor using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy with gold nano-thin-film electrodes

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death worldwide. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is a novel plasma biomarker for CVD. Traditional methods for ACE2 detection, such as quenching fluorescent substrates (QFS) are expensive, time-consuming, and high background. In this study, we have developed a gold nano-thin-film electrode by plasma sputtering technique for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). By using Au-NTF-EIS detection system, the ACE2 concentration can be detected from 0.65 fM to 6.5 pM, within 2 mins. Based on its advantages the risk factors of CVDs can be revealed.
