Measurement-induced phase transition in free bosons

ORAL

Abstract

In our work, we investigate the possibility of a measurement-induced phase transition (MIPT) in free bosons with long-range couplings [1]. We consider the two types of measurement processes. In the case where the measurement is short ranged, there are no MIPTs because the entanglement distraction cannot suppress the divergent entanglement generated by the long-range coupling. Meanwhile, we find that the long-range measurement can suppress the entanglement generation, leading to a MIPT where the bipartite entanglement entropy exhibits the subvolume-to-area law phase transition. We also find that the bipartite entanglement obeys the logarithmic scaling at the critical point, which should be described by a certain conformal field theory.
