Low-cost magic state distillation with cat qubits

ORAL

Abstract

Magic state distillation offers a fault-tolerant way to complete a universal set of gates by preparing a magic state, which is then consumed in a quantum teleportation circuit to implement the corresponding gate. For 2D qubit architectures, magic state distillation is among the most efficient techniques for realizing non-Clifford logical gates. However, since it operates at the logical level, it incurs significant overhead, often becoming the primary bottleneck in terms of both space and time during quantum algorithm execution. In this talk, we examine magic state distillation for biased-noise qubits and propose a protocol that leverages the characteristics of such qubits to minimize both space and time costs.
