End-to-End Application Specific Automated Tune-Up of Off-the-Shelf QPUs

Abstract

With the emergence of new foundries supplying fabricated quantum chips, the need for versatile software solutions to optimize QPU performance for diverse applications has become increasingly critical. This talk presents an automated workflow using the Q-CTRL software stack to transform uncalibrated, off-the-shelf QPUs from bare metal into finely-tuned, application-specific quantum devices.

We present a customizable workflow that seamlessly integrates device bring-up, gate calibration, error suppression, and circuit optimization. We demonstrate how tailoring each step to the specific requirements of the application enables us to squeeze out more performance from a given device. Our results demonstrate substantial improvements while minimizing user intervention, effectively bridging the gap between raw hardware and the demands of high-value quantum applications.
