Large language models for scientific discovery

I will discuss recent work on using large language models en route to scientific discovery. There are several important capabilities that are critical for scientific workflows that can be automated (and hence scaled) given advances in large language model technology. I will summarize them and discuss progress towards using them to accelerate computational science workflows. Although challenges remain, there are significant opportunities.
