Automated Quantum Error Correction Tools in the Pauli-based Circuit Optimization Analysis and Synthesis Toolchain
ORAL
Abstract
The Pauli-based Circuit Optimization Analysis and Synthesis Toolchain (PCOAST) was introduced primarily as a software tool for circuit optimization as used in the Intel Quantum SDK. However, much of the infrastructure can be expanded to automate the development of quantum error correction (QEC) schemes for new codes or adaptation of existing codes to constrained physical systems and hardware. In this talk, we discuss how data types in PCOAST, namely the PCOAST graph, naturally embed the underlying code structure, syndrome circuit fault-tolerance and error specification of Intel’s quantum-dot hardware from which we can derive a tailored weighted decoding graph or hypergraph. Additionally, PCOAST can resynthesize the syndrome circuit for adaptation to the constraints of Intel’s system and quantum-dot hardware based only on the stabilizer group of the code and hardware description. All functionality then immediately inherits ongoing efforts to formally verify PCOAST, allowing for QEC validation at scale.
