Abstract
We analyze the behavior of a layered frustrated J1-J2 Ising model on a cubic lattice under the influence of random site dilution. Vacancies create a random field-like disorder for the spindensity wave (stripe) order parameter. We employ large-scale Monte Carlo simulations to investigate under what conditions these random fields destroy the long-range stripe order. In cases in which the stripe order survives, we also study the phase transition between the paramagnetic and stripe phases, paying particular attention to the order of the transition and its critical behavior. We also discuss the generality of our results and potential consequences for experiments.
