Scalable multi-qubit QPU bring-up with Qruise-OS and Quantum Orchestration Platform

Abstract

Rapid automated bring-up of a QPU is essential to maintain a quantum computer well-calibrated and functional at all times. The QruiseOS framework [1] defines and executes workflows based on characterization experiments, analyzes and logs data for future retrieval, and tracks the evolution of critical system parameters. QruiseOS interacts seamlessly with the QPU through commercially available control hardware such as the Quantum Orchestration Platform (QOP) [2], among others.

The total runtime of calibration routines for a multi-qubit QPU must be kept low to reduce QPU downtimes and enable frequent recalibration to combat environmental drifts. For a fully optimized and scalable bring-up, it's crucial to consider control hardware capabilities—such as real-time discrimination, active reset, number of available oscillators, digital filters, and available real-time variable memory—when implementing experiments. In this presentation, we showcase the combined software and hardware solution offered by QruiseOS and QOP to efficiently tackle the bring-up problem. We report benchmarks and performance results on several multi-qubit QPUs.
