Quantum light spectroscopy of noisy quantum emitters

Abstract
I will present our methodology of quantum light spectroscopy using quantum estimation theory, as applied to a matter system probed by a (travelling) pulse of quantum light. Concretely, I will consider the estimation of matter system parameters such as the dipole moment (lifetime) for a two-level system (TLS). I will note the performances of different quantum states of light, such as single and entangled photons, as well as the experimental attainability of the fundamental quantum limits of spectroscopy. I will also illustrate the use tensor-network methods to evaluate fundamental limits for estimating parameters of a TLS that is also coupled to another dissipative mode, or equivalently, monitored using inefficient detectors. Our theoretical results should guide the design of future quantum light spectroscopy experiments, and the study of quantum light-matter interactions more generally.
