Sublattice polarization from destructive interference on common lattices
ORAL
Abstract
Sublattice polarization (SLP) has played important roles in the kagome metals AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, and Cs) and the graphene flat-band systems. However, its origin and generality in a broader range of materials remain elusive. In this talk, I show that the SLP states (SLPSs) appear ubiquitously on the common lattices. I first establish the destructive-interference (DI) scenario for the SLPSs, which is systematized by a point-group-symmetry interpretation. The systematic search on common one-, two-, and three-dimensional lattices is then demonstrated. I also discuss the symmetry-protected robustness of SLPSs against further-neighbor hoppings. The important effects on interaction-driven phases are studied by Hartree-Fock analysis.
