Quantum Solutions for the Creative Industries

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

Many routes toward quantum speedups are known, and many applications of these have been investigated for industries from healthcare to finance. However, very little attention has been paid to industries such as games, music and visual media. This is despite the strong engagement with these areas in outreach activities, such as quantum game jams, educational games and quantum-inspired musical performances. It is now time to ask not what the creative industries can do for quantum computing, but what quantum computing can do for the creative industries. In this talk we'll outline some of the first work done in this area by researchers at Moth Quantum, beginning with NISQ-friendly algorithms for generating musical scores as well as map generation for games. We'll also discuss our outlook for developing the future of procedural generation based on fault-tolerant quantum quantum computing.
