Design principles of odd electrical circuits

ORAL

Abstract

Chiral symmetry-breaking in elastic media can give rise to rich non-equilibrium behaviors, but controllable experimental realizations of such phenomena remain scarce. Building on recent advances in constructing electrical analogs of non-Hermitian solid state systems, we design and analyze scalable odd electrical circuits (OECs) that share hallmark features of odd elastic materials. Our analysis shows that active circuit elements in OECs facilitate the apparent extraction of macroscopic electrical work. We further demonstrate signal amplification properties of OECs and how selective actuation resuls in collective mode excitations akin to those recently observed in living chiral crystals.
