Superconductivity in quasicrystals with attractive onsite interaction

ORAL

Abstract

Motivated by the recent experimental observation of superconductivity in quasicrystals, we investigate the attractive Hubbard model on two types of two dimensional quasicrystal geometries, the Penrose kite-and-dart tiling and the Penrose rhombus tiling, employing unbiased quantum Monte Carlo techniques. Exploiting the sign-problem-free character of the model, we compute the superconducting structure factor and the superfluid density down to low temperatures, revealing a superconducting (SC) dome in the intermediate coupling regime, as a function of doping. We also discuss the unique real-space distribution of the local gap by computing the local density of states on sites with different coordination numbers.
