Mechanical interaction between bacteria and the environment
POSTER
Abstract
Various mechanical forces, such as shear generated by flowing fluids and substrate adhesion, exist in the living environment of microorganisms. Previous research has revealed that mechanical stimuli affect the motility and metabolism of bacteria. Here we will study the interplay between the bacteria colonies and their mechanical environment, trying to understand how the community behavior of bacteria can be controlled by the mechanical environment. Our research may provide insight into bacterial biofilm formation and pathogenesis.
