Topology, nanowires, machine learning, and Majoranas: Perhaps the only practical route to fault tolerant quantum computing

I will critically discuss in depth the current status of Semiconductor-Superconductor hybid based Majorana nanowires as a platform for topological quantum computing, emphasizing recent progress and future directions, and also what the possible materials roadblocks are in going forward. In particular, I will discuss the role of machine learning and deep learning in the Majorana nanowire platform.
