Microscopic investigation of triangular-lattice antiferromagnet CeLi<sub>3</sub>Bi<sub>2</sub>

Abstract

4f-electon triangular-lattice system CeLi3Bi2 is a semimetal and stripy antiferromagnet with TN = 1.28 K. Here, to gain microscopic insights into static and dynamic local magnetism, we performed 7Li nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements combined with thermodynamic and neutron diffraction measurements. NMR local dynamic spin susceptibility reveals a weak Kondo screening and competing RKKY interactions. In addition, short-range magnetic inhomogeneity with easy-plane fluctuations is observed below T* = 25 K. Our combined results indicate that CeLi3Bi2 is a promising candidate for tuning the interplay between geometric frustration and RKKY physics.
