Abstract
This talk will focus on the interplay between emerging quantum materials and quantum information science to enable superconducting circuit elements with unique functionalities, and new quantum sensing tools. I will discuss how fundamental questions relating to the mechanism that leads to the breakdown of superconductivity in thin films, known as the superconductor-insulator transition (SIT), can be applied to the development of high-quality superconducting quantum circuits and qubits, as well as playing a key role in developing new platforms for quantum simulation.
