Simulating Single-Photon Mach-Zehnder Interferometer on IBM's Quantum Computers

POSTER

Abstract

In quantum instruction, it is common to describe experiments with Mach-Zehnder interferometers because they can be represented as two-state systems. With the availability of quantum computers in the cloud, we show how one can simulate these experiments as perfect single-photon experiments, via quantum computer codes. This provides a great opportunity to bring quantum computation and single quanta experiments into the physics classroom. This research aims to execute and analyze single-photon Mach-Zehnder Interferometer experiments on IBM's quantum computers to gain further insights into quantum mechanical phenomena and concepts.
