Using liquid scintillation detectors for cosmic ray imaging
POSTER
Abstract
Liquid scintillator has the advantages of low cost and long attenuation length. This article investigates two types of liquid scintillation detectors for cosmic ray imaging: 1) Place the liquid scintillator into a flat container and use multiple SiPMs to detect the scintillation light generated by cosmic rays passing through the liquid scintillator. Use the amplitude and time of the signal to reconstruct the position of the cosmic rays, which can be a conventional method or an AI algorithm. 2) Place the scintillator into a long rectangular containers, arrange them vertically and horizontally, and measure the X and Y position of cosmic rays. Using the above two types of detectors can perform cosmic ray transmission imaging or scattering imaging.
