Multi Pipeline Localization Studies of Gravitational-Wave Transients
POSTER
Abstract
Accurate localization of gravitational-wave transients as detected by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA network of detectors is crucial for prompt follow-up observations in the electromagnetic spectrum. We here report on a study of localization systematics on Monte Carlo data using skymaps from multiple pipelines, including a newly introduced one based on machine learning methods we call AMPLFI. This study allows the assessment of the localization ability of this newly introduced method and additionally allows us to explore the ability of multi-pipeline information to improve the signal vs noise discrimination of real gravitational wave events.
