The R-Process Alliance: Abundances of r-Process Enhanced Metal-Poor Stars from Portrait Spectra from McDonald Observatory

POSTER

Abstract

Metal-poor stars provide insight into the conditions of the early Milky Way Galaxy, particularly the early formation of the heaviest elements in the periodic table, which form via the rapid (r-) neutron-capture process. In this poster, I present early results of a portrait analysis of 3 highly r-process enhanced metal-poor stars, based on high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N), high-resolution spectra taken with the Harlan J. Smith 2.7 m telescope at McDonald Observatory. Stellar parameters were determined with photometric data and abundances were determined with the line analysis code, Spectroscopy Made Hard(er). Abundances are compared with Solar r-process and s-process patterns, in order to learn about nucleosynthetic origins of the r-process material.
