Identifying Optimal Stellar Spectral Types for Roman's Spectroscopic Calibration
POSTER
Abstract
The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has a goal of surveying galaxy clusters and star formation, measuring the evolution of dark energy, exploring exoplanet demographics, completing wide astrophysics infrared surveys and more. The Wide Field Instrument (WFI) is a vital part of Roman, with a purpose of conducting large area surveys of the sky in near infrared. The prism and grism are important parts of the WFI. To ensure accurate data, it is crucial to calibrate the prism and grism. We need to identify which stellar types are optimal for calibration. We can utilize SciPy functions inside Python to identify the absorptions features in stellar spectra from an infrared spectral catalog.
