The search for more geometrically frustrated magnetic materials
ORAL
Abstract
Geometrical frustration can be achieved by incorporating a triangular motif in the magnetic substructure where the odd number of nearest-neighbor network gives rise to a competing antiferromagnetic interaction and thus magnetic frustration. Triangular and Kagome lattices are common lattice types that host geometrical frustration. Considering that one triangular motif is sufficient to induce frustration, more lattice types can potentially host geometrical frustration. In this talk, we will discuss triangle-containing Archimedean lattices. Real material examples in each lattice type, identified by a thorough survey, will also be presented.
