Nitride Perovskites
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
Perovskite is one of the most versatile structure types with a broad range of physical properties. It features a broad range of metallic elements, with functionality ranging from piezoelectric and ferroelectric inorganic oxides, to photovoltaic and light-emitting hybrid halides. Yet, other perovskite chemistries, such as chalcogenides and nitrides, remain relatively unexplored, in part due to much more challenging synthesis.
In this presentation I will review rapid recent progress in nitride perovskite material discovery, including synthesis, characterization and properties. Examples include LaWN3, CeMoN3, GdWN3, CeWN3 and related materials grown in thin film form and measured for their polar and magnetic properties in our lab, as well as bulk syntheses of these and related materials reported in literature.
