More is Different: How national and multi-institutional programs can help departments build an equitable physics culture

I will discuss how engagement with national institutional programs can amplify efforts to change physics culture and make our field more inclusive and equitable. Such an approach is especially conducive to developing research based practices. Furthermore challenges are present on all scales and those on the largest scales may only be surmountable by collective multi-institutional efforts. I will discuss some of the challenges and opportunities drawing upon our own change efforts as a representative case history.
