Single crystal synthesis, crystal structure and physical properties of CrGe1-xSe3+y
ORAL
Abstract
Chromium based layered magnets have been intensively investigated recently for their applications in low dimensional devices. In this talk, we report on the synthesis and characterization of single crystalline CrGe1-xSe3+y. Crystal synthesis procedure using flux method and detailed physical property characterizations via x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, magnetization and heat capacity measurements will be presented. CrGe1-xSe3+y is a semiconductor that exhibits a layered structure. Physical property measurements suggest an antiferromagnetic transition at 45-50K. The average oxidation state of Cr will also be discussed in this talk.
