Leveraging Detailed Noise Characterization for Optimal Qubit Selection and Error Correction Code Design

ORAL

Abstract

In the pursuit of robust quantum computation, understanding the noise characteristics of quantum devices is paramount. Detailed noise profiling can significantly influence both the selection of qubits for running error-correcting codes and the strategic decisions in code implementation. By analyzing noise data, we can identify the most stable qubits, thereby enhancing the reliability of quantum operations. Furthermore, this knowledge allows for the customization of error correction codes tailored to the specific noise environment, optimizing performance and resource efficiency. The discussion will cover methodologies for noise characterization, case studies demonstrating the impact of noise-aware qubit selection, and insights into adaptive code design.
