Shot noise near a Kondo breakdown transition

ORAL

Abstract

Shot noise measurements can reveal the scattering mechanisms in an electronic system which are inaccessible to time-averaged transport measurements; in particular, shot noise characterizes the charge carrier granularity and correlations between these carriers. Recent shot noise measurements in the heavy-fermion strange metal YbRh2Si2 (YRS) report a suppressed shot noise signature inconsistent with known results in a conventional Fermi liquid. Inspired by this, we investigate the current noise in strongly-correlated systems, focusing on a heavy-fermion system near a Kondo breakdown transition.
