The Role of Delocalization and the Numder of Dark Modes in Polaritonic Systems
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
Molecular Vibrational Polaritons have been shown with promise of modifying chemical reactions, although the design principles remain elusive. Among the unknown topics, the role of energy disorder in molecular participants and the numbers of dark modes in a polaritonic system are some of the key questions. In this talk, I will present the most recent experimental results to shed lights on both topics. First, I will show how energy disorder can deteriote the delocalized wavefunction of polaritons and correspondingly control how polariton influence molecular dynamics. Second, I will show an experimental measurement of the number of dark modes. These new insights are critical for rational and rigorious design of polariton and photonic structures for controling chemistry.
