Microfluidic Bubbles Submerged in Concrete
ORAL
Abstract
Extremely cold temperatures, significant snowfalls, freeze-thaw weather patterns, and applications of de-icing on roads can result in dangerous conditions due to the degradation of concrete and the emergence of potholes. However, concrete can display improved resilience when air voids are added to the concrete mixture, thereby showing less propensity for pothole formation. We investigate the admixture of microfluidic generated bubbles to concrete in improving freeze-thaw conditions and report our findings.
