First-principles study of strain effects on magnon in altermagnets
ORAL
Abstract
Altermagnets exhibit distinctive momentum-dependent spin-splitting due to noncentrosymmetric nonmagnetic atoms that break inversion and translational symmetry between atoms in different sublattices. Recent studies have highlighted the existence of chiral magnons in altermagnets which are absent in ferromagnets and antiferromagnets. In this work, we investigate effects of strain on chiral magnons in altermagnets using first-principles calculations. We compute the exchange interactions using established methods based on the Heisenberg model and obtain the magnon dispersions. By systematically applying strain to several altermagnets, we analyze the resulting variations in the exchange interactions and the magnon dispersions with focus on the chiral property of magnons.
