Kondo impurity at the edge of the antiferromagnetic spin s Heisenberg chain
ORAL
Abstract
We investigate the effects of a spin-1/2 impurity coupled to the edge of an open antiferromagnetic Babujian-Takhtajian Heisenberg chain with arbitrary spin-$s$. In this case, the model appears Bethe-ansatz solvable across different impurity coupling strengths $J$. By analyzing Bethe roots we identify distinct ground state phases with different many-body effects: the Kondo phase, where the impurity is overscreened by a Kondo cloud; the bound-mode phase, with a localized overscreened mode; and the ferromagnetic Kondo phase. These results reveal rich impurity behavior and extend the analogy to the multichannel Kondo model, offering insights into quantum critical phenomena in strongly correlated systems.
