Illuminating accumulated dark matter using particle colliders
ORAL
Abstract
By allowing a fraction of the DM population to consist of different species, existing constraints are weakened, paving the way for both new detection methods and the need for revised constraints. In particular, if some fraction of DM particles are strongly interacting, they could scatter in the Earth's atmosphere and interior, losing energy and accumulating over time. This increased local DM density near the Earth's surface enables novel detection strategies. In this work, we estimate the local DM density at the Earth's surface and use the beam lifetime of the Large Hadron Collider and other colliders to place new constraints on models such as U(1)B and milli-charge DM.
