Tensions with the standard model in B decays

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

Indirect searches for new particles and interactions have a long and successful history in high energy physics. Today, studies of heavy flavored quarks provide a valuable handle to probe for physics byond the Standard Model (SM) while elucidating the nature and details of quark and lepton flavor and CP violation. At present, this program has yielded several intriguing tensions with the SM, notibly but not exclusively in the 3rd-generation charged current decays and the electroweak penguin decays, the natures of which are yet to be conclusively settled. I will highlight a selection of these tensions and discuss prospects for their deeper exploration in the upcoming and future generations of flavor physics experiments.
