Collaborations near and far, old and new: Co-authorship networks in Physical Review Physics Education Research

ORAL · Invited

Abstract

Science is collaborative: studies repeatedly show that conducting research in teams is more effective than conducting research individually. In this talk, I will examine the evolving patterns of collaboration in physics education research using 20 years of publication data from Physical Review Physics Education Research. I will highlight the salient features of co-authorship networks, which illuminate the underlying collaboration structures of the community. I will also discuss the roles of authors' geographic location and seniority in the networks. Based on the findings, I will propose recommendations for diversifying collaborations in physics education research.
