Observations of the IC 443 region with HAWC
ORAL
Abstract
The supernova remnant IC 443 is a known source of gamma rays. We present our observations of this region using data from the HAWC Observatory. Our results align with previous very-high-energy studies, confirming a soft gamma-ray spectrum with no indication of a spectral cutoff. Surprisingly, we also detect a second emission component at these energies, which is spatially extended and characterized by a hard spectrum, without evidence of a spectral break. This emission overlaps with the 90 kyr pulsar B0611+22. We conclude that this emission is likely a TeV halo produced by the pulsar.
