Search for Axion-Like-Particles in the Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX)

ORAL

Abstract

Evidence from various cosmological observations of dark matter has been a significant motivator for searches for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). One such candidate particle for dark matter is the Axion, which was first proposed as a solution to the QCD Strong CP Problem, and later generalized to Axion-Like Particles (ALPs). The Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX), a fixed target accelerator experiment primarily searching for Light Dark Matter in the form of dark photons, offers sufficient detector sensitivity to detect other BSM particles such as ALPs. We present preliminary results on the potential to observe ALPs in LDMX, while exploring the application of jet clustering algorithms, jet observables, and machine learning techniques.
