Development of a new muon detector for Jefferson Lab Hall C
ORAL
Abstract
We are developing a muon detector for Jefferson Lab Hall C intended to expend detection capacities to muon pairs. The scientific motivation behind this project is that we would like to measure Double Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DDVCS), a unique and new experimental channel to probe the 3D structure of the nucleon, and enabling tomographic interpretations of the Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) which are limited with other reactions. We developed a test bench and are currently developing a prototype to be later tested at Jlab. In parallel, we perform R&D using GEANT4 to determine the best materials and dimensions for this detector. We were able to involve multiple undergraduate at various stage of this project. In this talk, we would like to discuss the design of this detector, our methods to improve tracking resolution and expected performences.
