A Directed Search for Continuous Gravitational Waves from Supernova Remnants in the LIGO O4a Data using a Semi-Coherent Templated Search Method

ORAL

Abstract

The LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration (LVK) searches for gravitational waves from a wide range of celestial sources. Among these are neutron stars with non-axisymmetric rotation, which emit long-lived, quasi-monochromatic gravitational waves known as continuous waves (CWs). The LVK employs various search techniques for CWs depending on the available prior information about the source. Here, we describe the use of the Weave implementation of a semi-coherent templated search method, based on the F-statistic, to search for CWs from supernova remnants during the first eight months of the LVK detector network's fourth observing run. The status of the search will be presented.
